Sex Ed Focus Group
About the Focus Group
The focus group planned a non-heteronormative Sex Education Workshop: It’s Only Sex!, in which they gave a short presentation and broke out into guided discussions led by their very own members. The event took place on March 11th from 5:00-6:30 pm at the Michigan League in Room 4. They also had an advice panel section where speaker Dr. Cynthia Gabriel answered student questions and offered her own insight.
Why this Topic, Goal, & Purpose
Goal and Purpose:
To destigmatize talking about sex and make resources more accessible to the student body, as well as educate on sex ed topics.
Why this Topic:
We all saw issues within the sex education system, which led to us wanting to do a workshop.
About the Project
The Process:
We wrote and distributed the survey, and the responses informed us on how to format our workshop.
Results:
Over 90 survey responses, about 20 people at our workshop, we were able to further destigmatize sex.
